Police say Gregory McAllister was clocked traveling 82 miles-per-hour, headed south on Vermont Route 100. The speed limit at that section of Route 100 is 50 miles-per-hour. McAllister was seen by police passing another vehicle at the time.

“I activated my emergency blue lights and siren to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle did not make any attempt to stop,” Trooper Abigail Drew said in a statement.

The statement goes on to say that the vehicle, a tan Buick, continued to pass other cars in the left hand lane at speeds in excess of 90 miles-per-hour.

The pursuit continued south on Vermont Route 100 through the towns of Newport Center and Troy, before stopping at the intersection of Loop Road, in the town of Troy.

The vehicle stopped after McAllister spun out while attempting to make a left hand turn on Loop Road.

Police say McAllister was the only occupant of the vehicle, and was taken into custody and lodged at Northern State Correctional Facility for lack of $2,500.00 bail.
