DERBY LINE — A woman from Derby Line was issued a citation for disorderly conduct after being stopped by U.S. Border Patrol on Wednesday.

According to police, Tonya Beezup, 37, was traveling on I-91 North, near mile marker 175 in Derby. U.S. Border Patrol Agent Matthew Curran performed a traffic stop on Beezup, for what he described as the “unsafe manner in which the vehicle was being operated.”

At around 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30, Curran requested State Police assistance, stating that Beezup was being uncooperative.

State Police Trooper Erika Liss arrived at the scene and spoke with Beezup. The police are reporting that through investigation it was determined that:

“Beezup had used tumultuous, threatening behavior, and abusive and obscene language with Agent Curran.”

Beezup was subsequently issued a citation for Orleans County Court in June to answer to the charge of Disorderly Conduct.
