NEWPORT — Joshua House, a local non-profit founded in Irasburg, is currently organizing a scavenger hunt fundraiser set to kick off in May.

The May 1 through May 15 hunt which is called “Picture It! – For Joshua House!” is asking participating teams to get real-time pictures of the front of every business in Orleans, Essex, and Caledonia counties.

Joshua House’s mission is to shelter the homeless short-term, to support those who struggle with sustainability, and to help prevent homelessness.

This fundraising event will go to support the local organization.

Registration starts April 15, and the cost is $10 per person.

Complete game rules will be posted on the Joshua House website, joshuahousenek.com, and various locations starting March 31.

For now, here is the basic information:

The teams receive one point for every picture of a different business. Five points will be given for capturing a sponsoring business. The team with the most points will receive $500. The second team will receive $250 and the third, $100.

Team captains will submit pictures to Joshua House to be posted on Facebook and their website.

Organizers with Joshua House say they are currently seeking businesses to be sponsors to help make the game more exciting.
