Woman wanted by Newport police turns herself in

NEWPORT — A 41-year-old Newport woman wanted after failing to bring back a three-year-old child to the Vermont Department for Children and Families when required turned herself in on Monday.

Shannon Webb was charged with custodial interference and obstruction of justice.

Webb turned herself in at 12:30 p.m. at the Newport DCF office.

She was arraigned on Monday and released on conditions issued by the court.

On Friday, July 17, the Newport Police Department sought the public’s help after she failed to bring a three-year-old child back to DCF at the required time.

The child has been safely returned to DCF custody, authorities say.
