ONEONTA, NY — New York State Police at Oneonta arrested Isaiah Izrael Owens-Chamorro, 20, of Oneonta, on a charge of criminal mischief in the third degree, a class E felony.
Troopers were dispatched to Thetford’s Auto Shop on Keith Street for a report of damage to property.
An investigation determined that Owens-Chamorro’s vehicle, a 2018 Chevrolet Trax, had been impounded and was being stored at Thetford’s.
Owens-Chamorro requested permission to retrieve personal belongings from the vehicle while it was at the tow yard.
Instead, he drove the vehicle from the property without paying the outstanding tow bill and damaged a gate while attempting to leave the premises.
A short time later, a trooper observed the vehicle traveling on State Route 23 and conducted a traffic stop.
Owens-Chamorro was taken into custody, and the vehicle was towed back to Thetford’s Auto Shop.
Owens-Chamorro was processed at SP Oneonta and issued an appearance ticket to the Oneonta Town Court on Aug. 4, 2026.
