Missing person found dead in Cazenovia

CAZENOVIA, NY — New York State Police are investigating the death of Anna J. Blaszkow, 24, of Chittenango, also known as Ansel Blaszkow, following an extensive missing person investigation that began in May.

On July 2 at approximately 11:31 a.m., Blaszkow was located deceased in a heavily wooded area just outside of Chittenango Falls State Park, off Carrys Hill Road.

Blaszkow was found by New York State Police Trooper Conners and K9 “Todz” while conducting a preliminary inspection of the area in preparation for an additional search operation that had been scheduled with the Chittenango Police Department.

At this time, there is no indication of foul play.

An autopsy will be conducted by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office to confirm the cause of death.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Oneida has taken lead of this investigation and is working with the Chittenango Police Department.

Blaszkow had been reported missing on May 14 by their parents after they had not been seen since May 11.

The family became concerned after locating a letter expressing self harm.

Investigators believed Blaszkow utilized transportation in an unknown vehicle from their residence in Chittenango to Chittenango Falls State Park on May 12.
