PROSPECT PARK, NJ — A driver was charged with driving while intoxicated after her vehicle overturned during a crash on July 4, 2026.
At approximately 10:29 p.m., SPO2 Ewusi and Officer Maruri were patrolling the area of North 6th Street and Fairview Avenue when they observed a black Jeep overturned on its roof in front of 238 North 6th Street.
Police made contact with the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, identified as Katherine Rodriguez.
Police determined Rodriguez had struck a parked vehicle before her Jeep flipped over.
Officer Maruri detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Rodriguez’s breath.
Rodriguez was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital for injuries she sustained in the crash.
The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Officer Maruri obtained a telephonic blood draw warrant while at the hospital.
Rodriguez was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated.
