Woman arrested on DUI charge in Waitsfield

WAITSFIELD, VT — A Newport, Rhode Island woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a single-vehicle crash that knocked down a telephone pole.

Troopers from the Berlin Barracks responded to the intersection of Vermont Route 100 and Vermont Route 100B at approximately 8:51 p.m. July 7, 2026.

Upon arrival, troopers observed a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee that had struck a telephone pole, causing significant damage to the vehicle.

The vehicle was operated by Coral Stukus, 41, of Newport, Rhode Island.

While speaking with Stukus, troopers detected indicators of impairment.

Stukus was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and brought to the Berlin Barracks for processing.

No injuries were reported in the crash.

The vehicle was totaled.

Stukus was issued a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court – Criminal Division on July 23, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.

Vermont Route 100 remained closed while crews from Green Mountain Power worked to remove active power lines from the roadway.
