FORKED RIVER, NJ — Police rescued a drowning victim from Barnegat Bay on Tuesday morning.
The Lacey Township Police Department responded to the Bayfront Park area at 8:28 a.m. for a report of a possible drowning victim.
Officer Jason Lee, Officer Martin Julian and Officer Colin Space arrived first on scene and entered the water.
With the assistance of a passing boater, officers were able to reach and lift the victim from the water.
Officers immediately began CPR and took the subject to a nearby beach where lifesaving efforts were continued.
Lacey Township EMS, Forked River Fire Department and RWJ Paramedics assisted.
The victim was transported to Community Medical Center, where they remain in critical condition.
