Man charged with DWI after rollover crash in Jefferson

JEFFERSON, NY — A man faces felony and misdemeanor charges following a one-vehicle rollover crash on State Route 10.

Members of the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of 425 State Route 10, near Scotch Valley Road, just after 10 p.m. June 26, 2026, for a reported rollover crash.

Deputies arrived to find the Stamford Fire Department already on scene.

The operator of the vehicle was identified as Derek Scully, 38, of Hobart, New York.

Scully was transported from the scene by Schoharie County EMS to Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown for medical evaluation.

Following an investigation, Scully was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree, a Class E felony.

He was also charged with numerous traffic infractions.

Due to receiving medical treatment at Bassett Medical Center, Scully was issued appearance tickets and traffic tickets directing him to appear in Jefferson Town Court on July 6, 2026, at 5 p.m.
