HEMPSTEAD, NY — A 4-year-old boy who was critically injured in a single-vehicle crash on the Southern State Parkway has died.
Christopher King-Morris was declared deceased June 24, 2026, according to New York State Police.
The crash occurred on June 17 at approximately 2:02 p.m. on the Southern State Parkway westbound west of exit 20N.
Police said a 2006 Nissan Sentra operated by a 31-year-old woman was traveling westbound when she attempted to avoid an unknown black vehicle.
The operator of the Nissan lost control of the vehicle, which left the roadway and struck a tree before coming to rest in a wooded area.
The operator was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
King-Morris was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to assist in the investigation.
The unknown black vehicle did not remain at the scene.
Investigators are working to identify the vehicle and its operator.
