Man arrested on drug charges in Downsville

DOWNSVILLE, NY — A traffic stop on State Route 206 led to the arrest of a man on multiple drug charges on June 27, 2026.

Members of Troop C Violent Gang Narcotics Enforcement Team and Community Stabilization Unit stopped a 2024 Tesla after observing Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

During the investigation, State Police seized approximately 109 grams of cocaine, approximately 66 grams of methamphetamine, two cell phones and U.S. currency.

Maurice S. Stewart, 38, of Oneonta, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 2nd degree, a class A-II felony.

He was also charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 3rd degree, both class B felonies, for intent to sell cocaine and intent to sell methamphetamine.

Stewart was processed by the New York State Police and transported to the Delaware County Jail for centralized arraignment.
