1 min read

HINGHAM, MA — A single-car crash Wednesday on George Washington Boulevard sent a vehicle into the woods, brought down power lines and injured the driver.

The crash happened at 5:14 p.m. June 24, 2026.

An SUV was heading past the Hingham District Court toward Hull when it struck a curb, drove across the courthouse parking lot, struck a utility pole and struck a tree in the woods.

The driver, who was injured, was able to get out of the SUV on their own.

The driver was transported to the hospital by Hingham Fire Department ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash caused the utility power lines to come down across the lot and on George Washington Boulevard.

This forced the boulevard to be closed for an hour.

The 23-year-old driver was cited and a request for their license to be suspended as an immediate threat was submitted to the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

It appears a medical issue may have contributed to the crash.

The driver was wearing a seat belt.
