Parolee arrested on drug charge in Bath

BATH, NY — A parolee was arrested on a felony drug charge following a compliance check at a local hotel.

Members of the Village of Bath Police Department responded to the Finger Lakes Inn at 330 W Morris Street at approximately 2:42 p.m. on June 23, 2026, to assist New York State Parole with a compliance check of a parolee residing at the hotel.

During the compliance check, parole officers located a large quantity of suspected fentanyl in the possession of the parolee, Coty J. Murphy, 34.

Murphy was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, a class D felony.

Murphy was processed and transported to the Steuben County Jail for centralized arraignment part arraignment, where he remains held without bail.

Murphy is a two-time convicted felon in the state of New York and remains under the supervision of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.
