GREENVILLE, ME — A Brewer man died Tuesday morning after his work van struck the rear of a tractor-trailer stopped at a traffic light in a construction zone.

Daniel Michaud, 39, of Brewer, was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.

Officers from the Greenville Police Department were dispatched to the area of 482 Moosehead Lake Road at approximately 10 a.m. Tuesday, along with the Greenville Fire Department and CA Dean Ambulance Service.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Michaud was traveling southbound on Moosehead Lake Road when the 2500 work van he was operating struck the rear of the stopped tractor-trailer.

Moosehead Lake Road was closed for several hours while members of the Greenville Police and Fire Departments and the Maine State Police processed and reconstructed the crash scene.

At this time, speed and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors in the crash.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has information that may assist investigators is encouraged to contact the Greenville Police Department at 207-695-3835.
