Man arrested on domestic charges in Cortlandville

CORTLANDVILLE, NY — A 68-year-old man was arrested following a domestic disturbance on June 20, 2026.

Joseph H. Gutchess, of Cortlandville, was charged with unlawful imprisonment in the second degree, a misdemeanor, and harassment in the second degree, a violation.

Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office responded to an address on State Route 11 at approximately 6:44 p.m. for a report of a domestic disturbance.

Authorities determined that Gutchess engaged in a physical altercation with a known victim.

Gutchess was arrested at 7:48 p.m. and transported to the Public Safety Building for processing.

He was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process on June 21, 2026, at 8 a.m. and released on his own recognizance.

Gutchess is scheduled to appear in Town of Cortlandville Court on July 8, 2026, at 1 p.m.
