DUXBURY, MA — A Marshfield man faces multiple charges including operating under the influence and child endangerment after police found him driving erratically at Duxbury Beach with a 4-year-old in his vehicle.
Duxbury police were first dispatched to Chandler Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. June 23 for a report of a white Jeep Wrangler pulled over with the male operator vomiting outside the driver’s door.
The vehicle had left the area before officers arrived.
At approximately 11 p.m., officers were dispatched to the East Lot of Duxbury Beach regarding a vehicle matching the same description driving at a high rate of speed, doing donuts in the lot, and driving up on the beach dunes.
The reporting party also believed there might be children in the back of the Jeep.
Officers located the Jeep and initiated a motor vehicle stop.
They immediately observed a 4-year-old boy asleep in the back seat.
When speaking with the operator, later identified as Michael Corbo, 37, of Marshfield, officers noticed vomit on his face and in the driver area of the vehicle.
During the initial interaction, officers observed several indicators that Corbo may be under the influence of alcohol.
When Corbo was asked to step out of the vehicle, he was extremely unsteady on his feet and told officers, “I’m drunk, I’m sorry.”
When officers attempted to place Corbo under arrest, he became combative and began to yell and kick at the officers.
Officers eventually deployed pepper spray to gain compliance and get Corbo secured in the back of a police vehicle.
During the struggle, one officer was kicked into an open cruiser door, resulting in minor injuries.
The child was unharmed and officers reunited him with his mother.
Corbo is charged with OUI liquor, third offense; child endangerment while operating under the influence; assault and battery on a police officer; and resisting arrest.
