MILFORD, ME — A 16-year-old male suffered minor injuries when his side-by-side ATV rolled over on County Road on Wednesday afternoon.

The Penobscot Regional Communications Center received a 911 call at 1:55 p.m. reporting the crash on the dirt section of County Road.

The teen was reportedly trapped inside the overturned vehicle when emergency responders arrived.

A Milford Contract Deputy and a supervisor were nearby and arrived first on scene along with citizens who stopped to help.

The deputy and supervisor removed a section of the side-by-side roof and extricated the operator, who was the sole occupant of the ATV.

Milford Fire and Rescue arrived on scene and provided aid to the operator, who suffered minor arm injuries.

The operator was wearing a DOT-approved ATV helmet and a seat belt at the time of the crash, which prevented more serious injuries.

The operator reportedly swerved to avoid a deer in the roadway, causing the machine to roll over.

The crash remains under investigation by the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office.
