Attorney arrested on larceny charge in Clay

CLAY, NY — State Police arrested a Baldwinsville attorney June 23, 2026, and charged him with grand larceny in the third degree, a class D felony.

Donatello Marof Lazarati, 41, of Baldwinsville, was working with the Assigned Counsel Program in Chenango County when he submitted duplicate billing to the county for the same legal services and accepted payment, according to an investigation.

Chenango County sustained a financial loss of approximately $4,700 as a result.

Lazarati was arrested in the town of Clay with the assistance of the Troop D Violent Gang and Narcotics Enforcement Team.

He was subsequently turned over to members of Troop C.

Lazarati was processed at State Police barracks in Norwich and transported to the Chenango County Jail for centralized arraignment.
