Motorcyclist killed in collision in Gallatin

GALLATIN, NY — A motorcyclist was killed in a two-vehicle collision on June 21, 2026.

New York State Police responded to the crash at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the area of Jackson Corners Road and Hoefer Road after being dispatched by Columbia County 911.

Nicholas H. Hedges, 30, of Red Hook, was operating a 2014 Ducati motorcycle when he lost control, causing the motorcycle to slide from the eastbound lane into the westbound lane, where it struck a 2025 Kia head-on.

The Kia was operated by Michael Mojica, 43, of Elizaville.

Mojica and a front seat passenger were transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Hedges was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Greenport Rescue Squad and the Livingston Fire Department assisted at the scene.
