COBLESKILL, NY — A driver was charged with driving while intoxicated after a single-vehicle crash on Lamont District Road on June 20, 2026.
Deputies from the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported personal injury motor vehicle crash in the Town of Cobleskill.
Upon arrival, deputies located a vehicle that had left the roadway and come to rest over an embankment at a steep angle.
Emergency personnel from the local fire department and EMS were assisting the driver from the vehicle.
The operator was identified as Emma Bulla, who advised deputies that she was the driver of the vehicle.
During the investigation, deputies observed signs of intoxication along with admissions by Bulla who stated she had consumed alcohol prior to the collision.
Due to injuries sustained in the crash, Bulla was evaluated by EMS and transported to Cobleskill Regional Hospital.
At the hospital, deputies requested a chemical blood test.
After being advised of the DWI refusal warnings on multiple occasions, Bulla refused to submit to the test.
The investigation determined that Bulla was traveling northbound on Lamont District Road at a speed unsafe for roadway conditions and was unable to negotiate a curve.
The vehicle left the roadway, striking an embankment and culvert ditch.
Bulla was issued Uniform Traffic Tickets and released to hospital staff due to the need for continued medical treatment.
She is scheduled to appear in the Town of Cobleskill Court.
Charges include driving while intoxicated-refusal, moving from lane unsafely, consumption or possession of alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle, speed not reasonable and prudent, and additional traffic violations related to the crash investigation.
