WEST CARTHAGE, NY — State Police arrested a 32-year-old man following a domestic incident early June 20, 2026.
Jonathan Colon Quezada, of Carthage, was charged with assault in the third degree and endangering the welfare of a child, both class A misdemeanors.
State Police responded to South Jefferson Street in the village at approximately 4:24 a.m. for a reported domestic incident.
An investigation determined that Colon Quezada and a female victim were involved in a verbal argument that escalated into a physical altercation while the victim was holding a 2-month-old infant.
During the altercation, the infant fell from the victim’s arms to the ground.
Colon Quezada allegedly struck the female victim multiple times, causing physical injury.
Carthage Area Rescue responded to the scene and evaluated both victims.
The female victim and infant were transported to Carthage Area Hospital.
The female victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The infant was evaluated and did not appear to have sustained any injuries.
Troopers located Colon Quezada and transported him to SP Carthage for processing.
Colon Quezada was arraigned in Jefferson County CAP Court and released on his own recognizance.
He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Champion Court on July 9, 2026, at 3:00 p.m.
