Carjacking suspect surrenders in Wayne

WAYNE, NJ — The final suspect in a June 8 carjacking and robbery turned himself in to police.

Yonathan Joel Medrano-Alavarez surrendered to members of the Wayne Police Department Investigative Division following contact between detectives and his friends and family.

Medrano-Alvarez was charged with carjacking, armed robbery, theft, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, aggravated assault and conspiracy.

His charges were placed on a complaint warrant.

He was transported to the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office Intake Hub pending a detention hearing.
