Man cited for impersonating officer in Newfane

NEWFANE, VT — A man was cited after allegedly impersonating a police officer in downtown Newfane on two consecutive evenings.

Vermont State Police troopers were notified at approximately 8:26 a.m. June 19, 2026, of an individual who appeared to be impersonating a police officer on the evenings of June 17 and June 18.

An investigation revealed that Frederick Berard, 59, of Newfane, impersonated a law enforcement or state officer.

Berard was cited to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division on July 28, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.
