BETHEL, VT — A Massachusetts man was cited for excessive speed and negligent operation on Interstate 89 South on June 21, 2026.
Vermont State Police troopers were conducting speed enforcement on I-89 South at approximately 3:27 p.m. when they observed a vehicle traveling in excess of the posted 65 mph speed limit.
Troopers used LIDAR to confirm the vehicle’s speed at 96 mph.
The vehicle was stopped without incident.
The operator was identified as Maher Taufeeque, 23, of Worcester, Massachusetts.
Taufeeque was issued a criminal citation to appear in Windsor County Superior Court – Criminal Division on Sept. 8, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.
