BOSTON, MA — Police recovered a loaded machine gun during a patrol in the Mattapan neighborhood Wednesday night.

Officers assigned to the Youth Violence Strike Force made the arrest at about 10:23 p.m. in the area of Morton Village Drive.

While patrolling the Morton Village Apartments, officers observed a male wearing a blue sweat suit and blue surgical mask in the center courtyard.

Officers recognized the individual as Lamont Jacobs-Barrows and noticed his left arm appeared pinned to his side as if holding an object in his armpit area while his right arm moved freely.

Officers conducted a pat-frisk for weapons, during which Jacobs-Barrows positioned his left side against a wall and attempted to block officers’ hands as they moved to the left side of his body.

Officers recovered a Glock 19 9×19 with an auto-sear switch and an obliterated serial number.

The firearm contained a high-capacity magazine loaded with 28 rounds of live ammunition.

Jacobs-Barrows is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of receiving an untraceable firearm, possession of a loaded machine gun, possession of a machine gun, carrying a firearm without a license, possession of a large capacity feeding device and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
