GREENFIELD, NY — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred early June 19.
Deputies responded to the intersection of Denton Road and Locust Grove Road at approximately 4:15 a.m. for a report of a crash.
The preliminary investigation indicates a female subject left Saratoga Hospital on foot and subsequently stole a vehicle from Seward Street in Saratoga Springs.
The vehicle traveled west on Denton Road, struck a tree at the intersection of Locust Grove Road and caught fire.
The operator of the vehicle was the only occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The identity of the operator is not being released pending notification of next of kin.
The investigation by the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit and Accident Reconstruction Unit is ongoing.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Saratoga Springs Police Department, New York State Police, Saratoga Springs Fire Department, Greenfield Fire Department, Saratoga County Coroner’s Office and the Saratoga County Deputy Fire Coordinator.
