Man arrested on DWI charge in New Hartford

NEW HARTFORD, NY — Police arrested a man on drug-impaired driving charges following a two-vehicle collision on Thursday.

New Hartford Police Officers responded to the eastbound off-ramp of State Route 840 at Commercial Drive at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Officers determined that a Chrysler minivan operated by Scott Lahart, 45, of Oriskany, New York, struck the rear of a Toyota Tacoma that was stopped at a traffic light.

Officers detected signs of impairment pertaining to Lahart.

Following the investigation and the administration of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, Lahart was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated.

A Drug Recognition Expert from the New Hartford Police Department performed an evaluation.

Lahart was charged with speed not reasonable or prudent, operating an uninspected motor vehicle and driving while ability impaired by drugs.

No serious injuries were reported.

Lahart was transported to the New Hartford Police Department and processed on the charges.

Lahart was issued vehicle and traffic law tickets that will be answered in The Town of New Hartford Court at a later date and released to a sober third party.
