Man arrested in connection with Greene County burglaries

CATSKILL, NY — The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation announced the arrest of Troy P. Stone, 41, of Ansonia, Connecticut, in connection with burglaries at three Greene County businesses.

Stone has been charged with three counts of burglary in the third degree, a class D felony, one count of grand larceny in the fourth degree, a class E felony, and petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor.

The investigation began on Jan. 17 at approximately 1:16 a.m., when troopers from State Police Catskill responded to a commercial burglary alarm at Gracie’s Luncheonette, located on County Route 23B in the Town of Catskill.

The investigation determined that Stone had unlawfully entered the business but fled shortly after the alarm was activated.

At approximately 9 a.m. that same day, troopers received a report of a burglary at Selena’s Diner in Haines Falls that had occurred at approximately 11:02 p.m. the previous evening.

The investigation revealed that Stone unlawfully entered the business and stole approximately $400 in U.S. currency.

Troopers also received a report of a burglary at Camptown in Leeds, which occurred during the early morning hours of Jan. 17.

Investigators determined that Stone unlawfully entered the business and stole approximately $1,645 in U.S. currency.

Following a lengthy investigation, members of the State Police BCI in Catskill located Stone in April after he had been arrested in Massachusetts on unrelated charges.

On Wednesday, Stone was formally extradited on a felony warrant from the State of Rhode Island.

Stone was arraigned in the Town of Catskill Court and remanded to the Greene County Jail.

Stone is due back in Town of Catskill Court on June 23 at 10 a.m.
