ULSTER, NY — New York State Police assigned to Thruway Albany responded to a report of a two-vehicle motor vehicle collision on Interstate 87 northbound near Exit 19 on June 19, 2026, at approximately 11:57 p.m.
A preliminary investigation determined that a 2016 BMW X3 was traveling northbound on Interstate 87 at a high rate of speed when it struck the rear of a U-Haul trailer being towed by a 2024 Subaru traveling in the same direction.
Following the collision, the Subaru lost control, rolled over, and became fully engulfed in flames.
The New York State Police were assisted at the scene by State Police Thruway Kingston, State Police Troop F, Kingston, State Police Troop F, Collision Reconstruction Unit, and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office.
The investigation remains ongoing.
