DORCHESTER, MA — A 16-year-old male was arrested and a loaded firearm was recovered Wednesday night in the area of Blue Hill Avenue.

Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force made the arrest at about 11:25 p.m. June 17 in the area of 1112 Blue Hill Avenue.

Officers on directed patrol in the area of Harambe Park observed three males huddled together on the corner of Blue Hill Avenue and Balsam Street.

As officers attempted to approach the group, the three males separated from each other and walked in different directions.

One of the males abruptly broke away from the group and entered a convenience store in the area of 1112 Blue Hill Avenue.

Officers continued their observations of the male inside the convenience store.

As officers entered the store, the suspect refused to engage with them and spoke only to the store clerk.

While speaking with the clerk, the suspect placed his bag onto the ground and officers heard the thud of an apparent metal object.

Officers approached the suspect and during a frisk, they recovered a firearm inside the bag the suspect was carrying.

The suspect was promptly taken into custody.

The firearm was determined to be a Davis Industries P-380 handgun loaded with five rounds of live ammunition.

The 16-year-old juvenile male of Boston is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of delinquent to wit; carrying a loaded firearm without a license, carrying a firearm without a license, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
