COVENTRY, RI — A North Providence woman was arrested following a traffic stop late Sunday night.
Troopers arrested Melanie M. Leite, 42, of North Providence, at 11 p.m. Sunday on Washington Street.
Leite was charged with possession of a Schedule I to V controlled substance 10 grams or less (methamphetamine).
She was also arrested on a Third District Court bench warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of shoplifting from the Coventry Police Department.
Leite was transported to the State Police Hope Valley Barracks where she was held overnight as a bail violator.
She was scheduled for arraignment Monday morning at Third Division District Court.

CHARLESTOWN, RI — A Johnston man was arrested early Monday morning on a drunken driving charge.
Troopers arrested Jonathan Vasquez, 23, of Johnston, at 12:30 a.m. Monday on Old Post Road.
Vasquez was charged with driving under the influence of liquor, BAC .10 to .15, first offense.
His blood alcohol content registered 0.138 percent in the first phase and 0.127 percent in the second phase.
The arrest occurred while troopers were assisting the Charlestown Police Department with an incident.
Vasquez was transported to the State Police Hope Valley Barracks where he was processed and held overnight.
He was scheduled for arraignment Monday morning at Fourth Division District Court.
