Two-vehicle crash in Fairlee

FAIRLEE, VT — Two vehicles collided at the intersection of U.S. Route 5 and Lake Morey Road on May 30, 2026.

Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks were dispatched to the scene at approximately 12:45 p.m.

Kate Magill, 40, of Canaan, New Hampshire, was driving a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek northbound and attempting to turn onto U.S. Route 5 from Lake Morey Road.

Magill entered the roadway and did not observe a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek driven by Kassie Covey, 39, of Thetford, traveling south on U.S. Route 5 through the intersection.

The two vehicles struck each other and came to rest in the roadway.

Magill was traveling with a 12-year-old juvenile passenger from Canaan, New Hampshire.

Both operators and the passenger were wearing seat belts.

No injuries were reported and no one was transported to a hospital.

Magill’s vehicle sustained moderate front driver’s side damage, while Covey’s vehicle sustained moderate front passenger side damage.

Magill was found to be the at-fault operator, failing to enter the roadway safely.

Road conditions were dry and weather was partly cloudy at the time of the crash.
