UTICA, NY — Police are investigating after human skeletal remains were discovered near the Utica Marsh area off Barnes Avenue on June 11, 2026.
Officers responded to the location at approximately 8 p.m. after being informed of the discovery.
The remains were found in the marsh area, according to the Utica Police Department.
Authorities have not identified the remains or determined how long they have been at the location.
The Utica Police Department is working with the New York State Police and Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s Office to identify the remains and determine the manner of death and circumstances surrounding the case.
The department’s Major Crimes Unit has been assigned to the investigation.
