NORTHBOROUGH, MA — A Worcester man was arrested Thursday after police say he left a child alone in a locked vehicle outside a Walmart.
Luis Fernando Lopez Veloez, 40, of Worcester, was charged with reckless endangerment of a child.
At approximately 4:06 p.m. Thursday, Northborough Police responded to the Walmart on Otis Street for reports of a small child left alone in a locked, parked vehicle.
Upon arrival, Northborough Police and Fire quickly located the vehicle and were able to safely remove the child from the car.
The child was evaluated by EMS and transported to an area hospital for evaluation.
Northborough Police located the owner of the vehicle, identified as Lopez Veloez.
Through a subsequent investigation, it was determined that Lopez Veloez was shopping and left the child in the vehicle.
It is believed the outside temperature was about 90 degrees at the time.
Lopez Veloez was arrested without incident.
He will be arraigned in Westborough District Court on Friday.
