AUDUBON, NJ — Officers from the Audubon Police Department were dispatched to the parking lot of the Acme Supermarket for a report of an assault on June 9, 2026, at approximately 9:47 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers located a 23-year-old female victim lying on the ground, suffering from multiple lacerations.
Officers immediately rendered aid to the victim.
The victim was transported from the scene to an area hospital, where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries and was expected to be released.
The suspect, identified as William J. McCallin, 23, of Camden, was located on scene and taken into custody without incident.
Based on the investigation, officers determined McCallin, who was an acquaintance of the victim, had assaulted her with a knife following a disagreement.
McCallin was charged with aggravated assault with serious bodily injury, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
McCallin was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility, pending a detention hearing in Superior Court.
