NEWPORT — The Newport Police Department arrested four people and seized nearly 58 grams of cocaine cut with fentanyl and more than $4,500 in cash following a month-long investigation, the department announced.
Officers executed a search warrant early Tuesday morning that led to the arrests of Matthew Prue, 46, Jennifer Sanville, 40, Stanley Crowe, 52, and Trina Stetson, 47, all of Newport. The investigation was led by Newport Police Officer Andrew Gonyaw.
Prue and Sanville each face charges of sale of cocaine, trafficking of fentanyl, possession of cocaine and possession of depressant, stimulant and narcotic drugs. Prue was also charged with criminal threatening. Sanville faces additional charges of aggravated assault, criminal threatening and two counts as a habitual criminal.
Crowe was charged with dispensing cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession of depressant, stimulant and narcotic drugs, second-degree unlawful restraint and interference with access to emergency services.
Stetson was charged with knowingly permitting the sale of cocaine and fentanyl in a dwelling and drug possession charges.
Prue, Sanville and Crowe also face charges stemming from separate investigations, according to the department.
Sanville was held without bail and issued conditions of release. Prue and Crowe were each held on $25,000 bail. Crowe was also lodged by Probation and Parole after being found in violation of his parole. Stetson was released from custody with a citation to appear in court at a later date.
All four were scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Orleans District Court.
