HANCOCK, NY — A Louisiana man was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated Tuesday evening.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a complaint of a vehicle traveling westerly in the eastbound lane on State Highway 17 in the Town of Hancock around 9 p.m.
Deputies located a vehicle that was running and parked on the eastbound shoulder facing a westerly direction.
The driver was asleep at the wheel.
Upon making contact and interviewing the driver, deputies identified him as Jerson Martinez-Lopez, 27, of Louisiana.
Deputies determined Martinez-Lopez had been operating the vehicle while in an intoxicated condition.
Martinez-Lopez was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle, driving the wrong way on a one-way street, unlicensed operator, aggravated unlicensed operator in the third degree, broken windshield and refusal to submit to a breath test.
Martinez-Lopez was turned over to the Delaware County Correctional Facility to await arraignment at the Centralized Arraignment Part Court.
