Man charged with burglary, DWI in Chateaugay

CHATEAUGAY, NY — Members of the New York State Police charged Thomas Q. Ryan, 33, of Chateaugay, with Burglary 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief, and Driving While Intoxicated on June 5, 2026.

At approximately 5:46 a.m., troopers responded to Nashville Road in the town of Chateaugay for a reported burglary complaint.

An investigation determined that an individual had unlawfully entered a garage and damaged a mailbox on the property.

After reviewing surveillance footage, troopers obtained a detailed description of the suspect.

While investigating the incident and speaking with the property owner, troopers observed a male operating a lawn mower on the roadway near the residence who matched the description of the individual seen in the surveillance footage.

Troopers stopped the lawn mower and identified the operator as Ryan.

During the interview, troopers observed signs of intoxication.

Ryan was arrested and transported to SP Plattsburgh for processing.

Ryan was later arraigned in the Town of Plattsburgh Court and released on his own recognizance.
