Motorcyclist killed in crash in Burns

BURNS, NY — A motorcyclist was killed after being ejected from his vehicle on State Route 70 on June 6, 2026.

Troopers from SP Amity responded to the scene at 10:30 p.m. after finding an unoccupied motorcycle on the north shoulder of the roadway.

Investigation determined that a 2024 Kawasaki was traveling westbound on State Route 70 when it exited the roadway into the north shoulder.

The motorcycle struck a signpost, causing the operator to be ejected.

The operator, Jayson P. Mess, 50, of Canaseraga, New York, was located deceased in a ditch near the collision.
