Suspect arrested after stolen vehicle pursuit in Bristol

BRISTOL, CT — Police arrested a Waterbury man after a stolen vehicle pursuit ended with the suspect fleeing on foot June 4, 2026.

Bristol Police officers located a stolen motor vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

The operator refused to stop and fled from officers.

A short time later, the vehicle was abandoned by its occupants, who fled the area on foot.

Officers established a perimeter and initiated an extensive search of the surrounding neighborhood.

Numerous officers from the Patrol Division and Criminal Investigation Division responded to assist in the search effort.

The Connecticut State Police K-9 Unit also responded and assisted officers in searching the area.

After an extensive perimeter search, officers located one suspect hiding in the yard of a nearby residence in the vicinity where the stolen vehicle had been abandoned.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

During the investigation, officers recovered a loaded handgun from inside the stolen vehicle.

The firearm was loaded with armor-piercing ammunition.

The firearm and ammunition were seized as evidence.

Police arrested Ronnie Robernson Cajou Jr., 19, of Waterbury.

Cajou was charged with carrying a firearm loaded with armor-piercing ammunition, criminal possession of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal use of a firearm or electronic defense weapon, interfering with an officer, conspiracy to commit larceny of a motor vehicle and conspiracy to commit larceny in the third degree.

Cajou was held on a $100,000 bond pending arraignment in New Britain Superior Court.
