Man arrested following stabbing in Portland

PORTLAND, ME — A Portland man faces multiple charges after a stabbing incident on June 3, 2026.

At approximately 10 p.m., a Portland Police officer patrolling the area of Portland and Hanover streets observed a disturbance.

The officer encountered a 23-year-old male who reported that he had been stabbed in the back.

The victim was transported to Maine Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Shortly thereafter, Portland Police located and took a suspect into custody.

Police arrested Patrick Brando, 34, of Portland, charging him with elevated aggravated assault, refusing to submit to arrest or detention and violating conditions of release.

He was also arrested on five outstanding warrants.

Brando was transported to the Cumberland County Jail.
