EAST LAMPETER TOWNSHIP, PA — An assistant manager who reported being robbed at gunpoint has been arrested after police determined he fabricated the incident.
Caleb Steele reported on March 23, 2026 at 8:42 p.m. that he had been robbed while closing the Pepperidge Farm Outlet Store at 35 South Willowdale Dr. in The Shoppes At Rockvale.
Steele told East Lampeter Township Police that a male approached him as he was exiting the store, placed a hard object into his back and forced him back inside.
He reported the male directed him to open the safe and took cash before fleeing out the back door.
Through investigation, police determined Steele fabricated the incident.
Steele was criminally charged along with a co-defendant with theft by unlawful taking, criminal use of communication facility and false reports.
The charges were filed on May 1, 2026 with Magisterial District Judge B. Denise Commins.
