Dead bear found in Burlington

BURLINGTON, CT — State Environmental Conservation Police are seeking the public’s help after a dead black bear was discovered on Upson Road on June 7, 2026.

The male bear weighed approximately 200 pounds and appeared to have a wound behind its front right shoulder consistent with a gunshot, according to police.

Officers do not believe the bear was killed at the location where it was found.

The carcass was seized by officers for further investigation.
