FORESTPORT, NY — Two women were injured in a head-on collision on State Route 28 on June 6, 2026.
According to Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, deputies responded to the crash just south of Pit Four Road at 6:51 p.m.
Deputies determined that Lucy Alpert, 77, of Sauquoit, was operating a blue 2015 Subaru southbound on Route 28 when she failed to keep right and drifted into the northbound lane, colliding head-on with a blue 2025 Subaru.
The northbound Subaru was operated by Debra McCoy, 74, of Eagle Bay.
Both parties sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Alpert was transported to Upstate Hospital by NorthStar Ambulance for complaints of hip pain.
McCoy was transported by an additional NorthStar Ambulance unit to Upstate Hospital for complaints of neck pain.
Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and were towed from the scene.
Alpert will be issued a citation at a later date for failure to keep right, returnable to Forestport Town Court.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office was assisted on scene by the Forestport Fire Department, New York State Police, two NorthStar Ambulance units, Shufelt’s Towing of Remsen, Nimeys Auto of Barneveld and the New York State Department of Transportation.
