Fatal crash in Derby

DERBY, VT — A 20-year-old man died following a single-vehicle crash on Vermont Route 105 on May 20, 2026.

Aiden Lamoureaux, of Newport City, was operating a 2011 Volvo XC70 northbound on Salem Derby Road at approximately 7:33 p.m. when the vehicle crossed Route 105, traveled off the roadway and into a field where it rolled several times, according to Vermont State Police.

Lamoureaux, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious life-threatening injuries.

He was transported to UVM Medical Center where he later died from his injuries.

A passenger, Aiden Farrand, 19, of Charleston, was wearing a seat belt and sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries.

Farrand was transported to North Country Hospital and later to UVM Medical Center.

Weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash.

Vermont State Police, Newport Ambulance Service, Orleans Ambulance and Derby Line Fire Department responded to the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
