Man arrested on warrant in Providence

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence man was arrested on an outstanding warrant following a traffic stop on Orms Street.

Austin Gomes, 35, of Providence, was taken into custody at 9:36 a.m. on a Sixth District Court bench warrant for failure to appear on a charge of domestic assault-vandalism.

The warrant originated from the Providence Police Department.

Gomes was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks for processing before being taken to Sixth District Court.

In a separate incident at 10:50 a.m., troopers arrested Andrew Lawrence, 25, of Providence, during a traffic stop on Orms Street.

Lawrence was charged with manufacturing/delivery/possession with intent to manufacture/deliver a Schedule I-II controlled substance (marijuana), first offense, and driving with a suspended license, fourth offense.

He was processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks, arraigned by a justice of the peace, and transported to the Adult Correctional Institute – Men’s Intake Center, where he was held as a probation violator.

At 12:26 a.m., troopers arrested Edy Giron Lopez, 26, of Providence, following a traffic stop on Route 6.

Lopez was charged with driving under the influence of liquor, first offense, BAC unknown, and refusal to submit to a chemical breath test, first offense.

He was processed at the Lincoln Barracks, arraigned by a justice of the peace, and released into the custody of a responsible adult.
