Fatal crash in Seymour

SEYMOUR, CT — A head-on collision Thursday night left one driver dead and another injured near the intersection of Great Hill Road and Southwest Road.

Police were notified of the crash at 8:55 p.m. Thursday.

Responding officers found two vehicles involved in the collision, a 1930 Ford Model A and a Ford F350 pickup truck.

The operator of the Ford Model A was identified as Richard Dimauro, 79, of Oxford.

Dimauro was found unresponsive at the scene.

Life-saving measures were performed and Dimauro was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The operator of the Ford F350, a 41-year-old man from Seymour, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Bridgeport Hospital for treatment.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The Connecticut State Police CARS Unit is assisting the Seymour Police Department with the investigation.

Great Hill Road was reopened at approximately 2:30 a.m. Friday.
