Woman dies after crash in Woodstock

WOODSTOCK, VT — A 69-year-old woman died after a single-vehicle crash on Pomfret Road on May 12, 2026.

Marjorie A. Wakefield, of South Pomfret, was driving a 2015 Subaru Outback northbound on Pomfret Road when she left the roadway, drove through a fence and came to rest in a field across from 819 Pomfret Road, according to Corporal Murphy of the Woodstock Police Department.

The crash occurred at approximately 4:08 p.m.

When police arrived, they found the vehicle’s airbags had deployed and Wakefield had been removed from the vehicle.

CPR was in progress when officers arrived at the scene.

Wakefield received medical care and was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

Woodstock Fire and Ambulance assisted at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
