CLARK, NJ — A 58-year-old Florida man has been charged with making a threat against a local church, police said Wednesday.

The Clark Police Department received information on March 10 about a possible threat to St. John’s Church on Valley Road.

The threat was written in a Facebook post and reported to Clark Police.

The report prompted an immediate investigation involving the Clark Police Detective Bureau, Patrol Division and the Linden Police Department.

As a precaution, St. John’s School was placed on lockdown due to its connection to the church where the threat was reported.

Within a short time, Clark officers identified a suspect and determined what vehicle he was driving and his current location, according to Director Patrick Grady.

Detective Danny Joy continued the investigation.

On April 27, Clark Police charged the man, who was residing in Florida, with third degree false public alarm.

The man was processed at Clark Police Headquarters and has a June court date in Union County Superior Court.

Sgt. Chris Tuccio, Officer Alexander Ruiz, Officer Cassandra Kinney, Juvenile Detectives Brian Soos and Mark Detore also contributed to the investigation.
